Millie Driscoll –  Apprentice

Millie joins the company on our Apprenticeship programme.  Coming straight from school Millie took advice from a family friend and a member of the Wakemans team who recommended her to Wakemans and advised her that a career in professional construction would suit her.  Millie duly applied and following an interview with our Divisional Director Andrew Hancock, she decided to give it a try, joining us in September 2023.  Millie is gaining experience for a year before beginning her formal University training, and so far, all is going well.  Millie is enjoying being in the office learning new skills and an understanding of the job.  She has also experienced attending site with a senior member of our team.  Millie comments ‘I like taking on responsibility for the tasks I am assigned, and it is different every day, I look forward to starting my studies next year and I am interested in pursuing a career in Project Management.’ Millie has proved to be a confident team member and we look forward to nurturing her interest in construction consultancy over the coming months.

Miles joins us from University and has taken a sandwich year out as a work experience student.  Miles is enrolled on a BSc (Hons) Degree in Construction and the Built Environment at Coventry University.  He is enjoying gaining a year of valuable work experience with us and will take this forward in his final year before graduating in 2025.  Miles mentioned he was influenced by a member of his family to pursue a career in Construction Project Management and has found the process of construction an interesting topic.  Miles says, ‘I am interested in gaining my work experience working on city based projects in the UK with a view to working abroad, in the future I would ideally like to emigrate to somewhere like Australia’.  Miles is fitting in well with the team and is proving a useful resource to our project management and Quantity Surveying team alike.

Alina Raza
Alina Raza – Graduate Building Surveyor

Alina Raza, MSc – Graduate Building Surveyor

Alina Raza joins us with a master’s degree in building surveying.  Alina started out by obtaining an undergraduate degree in human biology before deciding to change tack and go on to train as a Building Surveyor.  Alina joined us in October 2024, she comments ‘I decided not to pursue training in a science subject and decided to completely change my interests after investigating careers in construction and real estate.  I am pleased that I have and after studying my masters over the last two years found Building Surveying to be both rewarding and interesting’.  This is Alina’s first job after graduating and she is currently shadowing a member of the Building Surveying team, gaining valuable experience along the way. Alina mentions that no two days are the same and she enjoys developing a wide range of skills going out to site and by contrast working in the office.  She is popular with the team and is looking forward to gaining valuable experience as she starts to concentrate on her APC to become a chartered member of the RICS.
