What would I add to my dream home?
Oh that’s an easy one. A wine cellar. Definitely!
What do I do when I’m not working?
I’m an avid Aston Villa supporter and have been for nearly 50 years. Away from football, I have a real fascination with timepieces — whether it’s clocks or watches, I’m in awe of the technical skill that goes into them. I’ve got more watches than I can wear, and the house is full of the sound of ticking and chiming.
What project work do I find most interesting?
It’s not just about standout projects — it’s about lasting relationships. I’m proud to have built and maintained client relationships that have stood the test of time, even through turbulent periods and major changes in their businesses.
What’s the strangest thing I’ve ever had to budget for?
One memorable challenge was budgeting for a ‘bat hotel’ — a facility designed to house five different species of bat, each needing a unique environment. We created dry areas, damp areas, heated spaces, ventilated sections, a cellar and numerous types of roost.
What historic building would you love to work on?
If I could work on any historic building, it would be St Paul’s Cathedral. Cathedrals have always fascinated me — the scale, the ambition, and the fact that they were built over 500 years ago with just human ingenuity and a block and tackle is awe-inspiring.
