How do you spend your time outside work?
I’m a road cycling enthusiast (yes — one of those MAMILs) and a big fan of cricket. I also enjoy reading, especially anything rooted in history.
Fun fact: I once cooked fajitas for the rock band Muse while working in a Mexican restaurant in the French Alps.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve had to budget for on a project?
A 24-hour book drop-off facility for a library in Blackburn. We couldn’t find one that fit the brief, so I designed it myself and had it fabricated by a local sheet metalworker.
What project or client work stands out for you?
Supporting a social enterprise co-operative in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, on two community refurbishment projects. Both are being delivered to Passivhaus standards — and as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, planning has been an intricate process. It’s inspiring to be part of a project where profits are reinvested directly back into the local community.
What historic building would you love to work on?
Blenheim Palace — architecturally stunning and rich in history as the ancestral home of Winston Churchill.
What recent achievement are you proud of?
Being promoted to associate director — a milestone I’m proud to have reached through consistent hard work and continued development.
