Luke supports his divisional director — the head of building surveying – and plays a key rols in the leadership of the Birmingham Building Surveying team. Day to day this involves overseeing workload, workflow, fee management and team development. Luke also provides APC mentoring to candidates working towards RICS chartership — a responsibility he finds especially rewarding, having recently helped a colleague successfully navigate the process.
Alongside his management duties, Luke continues to take on some of the practice’s more technically demanding work — including dilapidations, defect inspections, party wall matters, project monitoring and contract administration. One of the aspects he most enjoys is carrying out detailed building surveys ahead of client acquisitions, offering clear, pragmatic advice. For Luke, building surveying is a discipline where you never stop learning.

How do you spend your time outside work?
I’m a keen football fan and love travelling — especially to new countries. I also enjoy reading, cooking, and since buying a house, I’ve got into gardening and DIY. I’m currently learning Portuguese, though that may take some time to master!
What historic building would you love to work on?
Buckingham Palace — it would certainly be an interesting one.
