What would I add to my dream home?
I’d like a cinema room for marathon movie sessions.
What do I do when I’m not working?
I head to Le Mans every year to catch the hypercar racing — Ferrari all the way. I also play snooker weekly and take part in a pub quiz club where we regularly walk away with the top prizes. When I’m not watching films, I’m probably listening to heavy metal — my favourites include Metallica, Papa Roach, ACDC and Iron Maiden.
What project or client work stands out for you?
A 350-bed hotel in London’s Docklands — challenging due to the A13 running underneath in a tunnel. It made piling for the 19-storey building particularly complicated, but the result was worth it.
What’s the strangest thing I’ve ever had to budget for?
A horse trough and tethering post outside a hotel in the South Downs — there was a bridleway on the boundary, so it made sense. Sort of.
What historic building would you love to work on?
The WWII-era Royal Air Force hangar that now houses the Silverstone Museum. It’s a landmark of British motorsport history — and those old bomber hangars tell a story all of their own.
