Peter Berndes is an associate director based in Wakemans’ Bristol office, where he supports the divisional director in managing the team and delivering cost management and employer’s agent services across the leisure and hotels, industrial and logistics, and residential sectors. With a particular focus on cost expert advice and residential land valuation, Peter brings a pragmatic, detailed mindset to both commercial negotiations and strategic reporting.
He plays an active role in stakeholder engagement — chairing meetings, assessing site progress, and working closely with development teams to ensure delivery stays on course. How do you spend your time outside work?
I’m a passionate Arsenal supporter, and also follow cricket and rugby. On weekends, I test (and jeopardise) my handicap on the golf course, and whenever I can, I travel — I enjoy experiencing different countries and cultures.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve had to budget for on a project?
Raptor perches in Frome. There were even ‘saddle’ options to choose from — though I never saw any birds using them over the local BT poles or woodland.
What would you add to your dream home?
A golf simulator bay — it might help reduce the temptation to head out for a round. And if there’s space for a putting green too, even better.
What historic building would you love to work on?
Alexandra Palace — for the blend of heritage façades and modern systems that support its current role in entertainment and production.
