Richard Lyndon, MBA, MA (Law), B.Sc., PGDip (Proj.Man., RICS), FRICS, FCaSA, MCI.Arb leads Wakemans’ Specialist Services division, bringing close to four decades of experience across construction, engineering, energy, oil and gas, and international capital projects to the role. His career spans private practice quantity surveying in the UK, senior in-house commercial leadership roles across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and extensive independent consulting, giving him a depth and breadth of perspective that few advisers in this field can match.
Over more than 22 years of hands-on commercial contracting experience, Richard has operated at the board and executive level, including EVP, CFO and Group Commercial Director roles on projects with values reaching into the billions. He has led complex dispute resolution processes, negotiated high-stakes contracts across standard and bespoke forms including JCT, NEC, FIDIC and EPC, managed international arbitration proceedings, and directed distressed project recovery programmes across multiple sectors and jurisdictions. His experience is not purely advisory; he has held P&L responsibility, led cross-functional teams and navigated the commercial, legal and political realities of delivering major capital projects in some of the world’s most demanding environments.
Richard holds several academic and professional qualifications in Law, Finance and Management. – a combination of commercial, legal and technical qualifications and hands on experience that underpins the rigour he brings to every instruction.
He previously served as a Director of Wakemans in the 1990s, where he founded and led a specialist division delivering litigation support, insolvency management and project recovery services, an experience that gives him both a deep familiarity with the firm and a proven understanding of what effective specialist advisory looks like in practice.
Richard advises developers, all tiers of contractors, insurers, lenders and legal teams who need genuinely independent, commercially grounded expertise when projects encounter complexity, dispute or financial stress. Those appointments often include being engaged early to provide upfront assurance and additional risk management towards the project’s successful outcome.
