The project began with the production of full bills of quantities, itemising the requirements of all elements of the project, thus enabling accurate analysis of the design during its development and aiding the tender process, with less risk to the Contractor. The project involved the construction of a new teaching block comprising of six classrooms plus remodelling works in two locations within the existing school infrastructure. To maximise the available space Seymour Harris Architecture’s design involved the reconfiguration of the existing dining room to provide a larger facility and building a new staff room. The fitness room was modified and the existing art facility underwent remodelling to create a new science laboratory. A flexible two-storey galleried link between the dining room and teaching facilities opens up opportunities for art exhibitions and events. The completed project has a contract value of £2.1m. |
