Project overview
A purpose-built sorting facility for Amazon on behalf of Stoford Developments, delivered on programme during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The scheme included warehouse space, office accommodation, full M&E services, and extensive external infrastructure, from drainage and landscaping to access roads and a dedicated gatehouse. The unit is accessed on three sides and includes 102 dock levellers, four van doors, and two level-access doors, with parking for 125 HGVs and 470 cars.
The project also included £3m of S278 works consisting of a signalised junction to an existing dual carriageway.
Following occupation, Amazon instructed an additional £25 million of enhancements to the base build to meet their demanding operational standards. With around 200 operatives and 40 contractors on-site at peak, robust COVID safety measures ensured works could continue without disruption.
